The City of Cape Girardeau Regional Airport is adding a new nonstop destination this winter, and it is one a lot of travelers have been asking for. Starting in December, you can fly directly from CGI to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) with Contour Airlines.
If a Florida getaway or a trip to the theme parks has been on your list, here is why this new route is worth planning around.
Skip the Drive, Skip the Hassle
Getting to Orlando used to mean a long day in the car or a drive to a bigger airport a couple of hours away. Now you can park for free, walk into CGI, and be on your way without the two-hour drive to St. Louis or the long security lines you would deal with at a bigger hub.
That is time back on your trip. Time you could be spending at the parks, on the beach, or just relaxing before your vacation even starts.
Perfect Timing for Winter Travel
Whether you are chasing warmer weather, taking the kids to Disney or Universal over winter break, or just looking for a change of scenery once the cold sets in, Orlando Sanford puts all of it within reach on a direct flight from home.
Sanford Puts You Close to Everything
Orlando Sanford International Airport sits just north of Orlando, which means you are still close to all the destinations people travel to Florida for. Theme parks, springs, beaches on both coasts, and Central Florida’s growing food and entertainment scene are all a short drive from the airport.
A Route Built for the Region
This new flight is not just good news for Cape Girardeau. Travelers from Jackson, Perryville, Paducah, Carbondale, and the surrounding area now have a nonstop option to Florida without adding hours of driving to their trip. That is the same idea behind everything CGI has been building toward: a hometown airport that gives the region real travel options, not just a detour on the way to somewhere else.
A Growing Lineup of Seasonal Destinations
Orlando Sanford will run into March 2027, giving you an entire winter and early spring season to plan a Florida trip on your own schedule. And this is not the only Florida option CGI travelers will have. Pensacola was such a hit this summer that it is coming back for a second run from May through September 2027. Between the two, CGI now offers a nonstop path to Florida almost year-round.
Book Your Trip
The new CGI to SFB route begins in December, and seats will move quickly as travelers start planning their winter and holiday trips. If Orlando has been on your mind, now is the time to look at flights.
Book the trip. We’ll make getting there the easy part.
